Lexus launches super luxury carbon fiber concept yacht
Remembering that Lexus made a splash when it launched its maglev skateboard, Lexus now "marches" into the marine business and unveils its first concept sport yacht in Miami's Biscayne Bay to add another imaginative lifestyle to the Lexus family.
The conceptual sport yacht is designed to create a six-to-eight-seat open structure for daytime sailing and incorporates the latest Lexus design aesthetics, in which the upper deck seamlessly combines with the outer hull, each of which is made of polyurethane epoxy resin and hand-woven carbon fiber materials. In addition, the carbon fiber structure of the Lexus concept yacht has lost nearly 1800kg of weight. The drag reduction performance of the underwater part of the hull is fully considered, and the maneuvering balance during high speed operation is increased.
The yacht carries two Lexus 5.0 litre V8 high-performance gasoline engines, which are also used in medium-sized high-performance coupe RC F, medium-sized high-performance sports car GS F and flagship luxury sports car over the new LC 500. A single V8 engine can output more than 470 Ps of power, driving a hydraulic-controlled outboard and outboard engine to produce a maximum speed of 43 knots per hour, while a bow propeller with a joystick provides convenient berthing assistance.
About the origins of the Lexus yacht: A few years ago, Toyota Marine Department invited Toyota Motor Co. President Toyoda to experience the upcoming launch of the Ponam series of high-end yachts in the Japanese market. At that time, the Ponam yacht had a turbocharged diesel power system and advanced hull design. As a driver-loving racing driver, Toyoda is delighted with its superior maneuverability and stability; as Lexus International's chief brand officer, Toyoda hopes to use a high-performance luxury yacht to push Lexus to a higher level of lifestyle.
